I’m compelled to write today because the weather is really great. Also, becuase the smells from the kitchen have been amazing and I wanted you to know that. Baklava, pecan pie, new england clam chowder. It’s hard to not want to eat and eat and eat. We haven’t even gotten to the summer season yet and the food look fabulous! Come on in and eat.

We have over 30 people that work at The People’s Pint. All ages, men, women. It’s terrific to see such dedication and pride in one place. People work hard here so all kinds of people can come in and eat, drink, and be merry. As much as the food and beer make this place what it is, the employees make it more. Day and night - night and day. The Pint Crew is a wonderful site to behold.

Ah, Beltane. The night we’re supposed to fertilize the fields in hopes of a prosperous harvest. Fires burned, dances danced, love made. Who couldn’t love May 1?

May is bike month at The People’s Pint. We love riding our bikes, so we do, and then we celebrate that.

Well, it seems we all made it through tax day, and it doesn’t look like it is going to snow again. It was 71 degrees today and man everyone is in a great mood. The daffodils are blooming the forsythia is budding out. I’ve even seen the saucer magnolias going at it. It’s a gorgeous time of year.

Cheers to anyone that read this blog. We appreciate your attention and welcome feedback, commnents, suggestions and love. Yes, we appreciate love.

We played an April Fools joke that went over super well. Here’s the “press release” about it:

Due to a surprise acquisition, The People’s Pint is under new management as of today, April 1. New owners, Mr. & Mrs. Aldo Boothicelli look forward to introducing an Italian menu and say that, “we understand how much the community loves The Pint, so we are keeping the same name but in Italian.”

Tonight the community is encouraged to stop by La Pinta Della Gente for its gala opening with delicious traditional pasta dishes, special wines, and authentic Italian desserts made on premise.

“I’m just trying to save my job,” says Chef Chris. “If that means I have to offer Spicy Italian Sausage and Spaghetti & Meatballs, I’ll do it with gusto.”

“Ciao! I’m just as surprised as everyone else.” comments Beth Fraser, GM. “I’m a bit sad but the Boothicellis seem like nice people and the place looks great!”

“What can I say? The Boothicelli’s made us an offer we couldn’t refuse and besides I love the new red and white tablecloths and the homemade cannoli,” explains Alden Booth, former proprietor of The People’s Pint.

The restaurant opens at 4 p.m. and the bar closes at midnight.

Ahhhh, spring. It’s here. We made it. Time to get the bicycles out. Remember, The People’s Pint has a Ride Your Bike! program where we give you credit toward purchases in the restaurant for riding your bike INSTEAD of driving you car. Check out our website for the details.

We now have an email newsletter that we’ll be sending out to folks that sign up to recieve it. You know, everybody is doing them. We send out information about events, food, our thoughts, cool links - just stuff. A person can sign up right on the front of our webpage. Think about it. You too can get cool information. We might even slip in a freebie here and there just to see if you’re paying attention.

I’m really excited about the month of February. We’ve got some great musical talent coming through, the youngest artist to hang a show in our dining room is doing so this weekend and we’ve got new additions to our crew willing and ready to serve.

We start the month out with a week of Winter Fare. While we don’t need a special week to celebrate local, we do participate in this local event. New this year is a Local Libations tasting on Tuesday from 3-6. We’ve got Elm City, Berkshire Brewing, West County Winery, Ambrosia Mead, and us serving samples of libations to whomever wants to join us. The young artist I mention is Imogene Pruitt-Spencer. She’s a talented photographer and artist looking forward to a life full of creativity. We are psyched to have her here.

And as for new faces on our crew… you’ll just have to come in and meet them.
